This document covers topics that you may experience when you make Airtable a core part of your workflow.
Backing up your database
“Uh oh. What just happened?” Those words are enough to make anyone’s palms sweat. Airtable supports undo and redo for simple changes, but when that’s not enough, we offer snapshots. Snapshots are like time capsules of your database, put away for safe keeping.
Airtable will automatically take periodic snapshots of your Base. You can also manually take a snapshot to back up your Base before you make major changes. Take a snapshot of your Base by going to the history menu (clock icon) on the top right side of a Base. Click “Snapshots” and then choose between taking a snapshot and restoring a previous version.
Managing your account
Airtable pricing is on a per-user basis and billed at the team level. Teams owners can change their plans and only pay for the people using the team’s bases. If you exceed the record limit for your current pricing tier, we will not delete any existing records, but you will not be able to create any additional records.
To access account information for a team, right click the team name and select “Team Settings.”
There you’ll find the number of people on your team, the size of your largest Base, and your current pricing plan.
People and teams can earn credit toward monthly plans by inviting others to sign up for Airtable. From the team account page, you can see your team’s credits and team owners can transfer their credit to a specific team.
Keeping your data secure
Nothing is more important than the security of your data. We protect your stored data with 256-bit AES encryption — the same technology banks use.
We also safeguard your data as it moves between your computer and ours. We create a secure tunnel with 256-bit SSL/TLS to encrypt your data as it is transferred — including your password, text inputs and file attachments.
Airtable commissions 3rd party security reviews from experts and continuously engages with security researchers.
For some of us, efficiency means not needing to take your hands off the keyboard. We created a variety of keyboard shortcuts to speed up your workflow. Ctrl + Alt + Relief.

If you are a programmer or have development resources, we offer an API to create, read, update, and destroy records. Both the API and the documentation is personalized to match the structure of every Base.
The API is designed to complement how people use Airtable. It is extremely powerful but was not purpose-built to be a full-featured backend solution for websites or mobile apps.
